Yarn for the textile industry is winded around a cone-shaped paper yarn carrier. Textile cones are used for winding and transporting yarn. A challenge in the textile industry is the packaging of the cones. The scope of this project was to develop a software application that will find optimal solutions, regarding the layout of boxed cones inside a container. The goal is to maximize the number of transported cones and eventually minimize transport costs.
